RRISA's Winter Wishlists:
With the cold days upon us, our new arrivals need donations of everything from warm clothing to rent assistance. We ask everyone to give what they can, whether it be a cash donation to help with rent, a winter coat or pair of shoes, or a big blanket and a rice cooker. Together we can keep our new friends warm this season.
Please see our wishlists for the items we need:
For household needs, we have divided our list into donation levels based on what we need most. However, the PDF downloadable file is divided by type of item (furniture, linens, etc.) for shopping convenience.
For clothing needs, we can use warm clothing for all ages. We also need cold-weather shoes in all sizes and styles. Although our sample wish list is on Amazon, please feel free to shop elsewhere. We recommend Walmart or Value Village as places to buy quality items for low prices.
Thank you, and keep warm!
Georgia DHS Contract Delay Update:
RRISA would like to express our gratitude to Governor Deal and Commissioner Reese for signing several delayed human services contracts through the Georgia State Department of Human Services releasing $4.1 million in federal funds earmarked to the Refugee Program.

The Champion Newspaper wrote an article about local refugee resettlement efforts. Our executive director, Paedia Mixon, was interviewed and is mentioned in the article speaking about why new arrivals are sent to a given area. To read the article, click here.
Who We Are:
RRISA heals and rebuilds the lives of displaced and uprooted people. Our vision is that refugee families will become stable, financially independent, and productive members of the community, while preserving the ethnic and cultural identity that supports their dignity and self-esteem. Our immediate goal is to enable families to become financially self-sufficient.
We answer the humanitarian call to serve those fleeing from persecution, war, famine and extreme poverty by helping with:
- Immediate needs for shelter, food, clothes and medical care
- Employment
- Education and cultural orientation
- Individual, family and community identity
- Long-term healing
RRISA encourages our community members to volunteer and donate their time and resources to take responsibility for improving the plight of displaced and uprooted people. We are a bridge between local resources and refugees worldwide.
